PRODUCT

MIKE+ CS Pollution Transport and Water Quality

Dynamic modelling is a key tool for the analysis of wastewater collection systems and urban drainage networks. Initially, modelling of storm runoff and network flows provides a detailed insight into the system’s hydraulic performance. When the analysis extends to embrace the impact on the recipient, the model needs to be extended to include the pollution component. This can be achieved by defining the relevant pollution types, its sources and quantities, and modelling the pollution transport from the sources through the drainage network. Finally, the pollution emissions and its effect on the recipient. Adding the water quality processes brings the analysis to another level of accuracy.

This course will teach you the basics of pollution transport and water quality modelling by MIKE+ CS.

About MIKE+ CS Pollution Transport and WQ

The MIKE+ CS includes a a comprehensive modelling system for water-borne pollution in urban catchments and drainage networks, and its effect on local recipients, both in dry weather and during rainfalls. Simulation of storm runoff and network flows is seamlessly combined with processes like wastewater generation, surface pollution loads build-up and wash-off, the network transport and biological processes. The latter is handled  by MIKE ECO Lab - a numerical lab for water quality and ecological modelling , that is included as MIKE+ CS Water Quality (WQ) module. As such, MIKE+ CS is perfectly suitable for analyses of the system’s compliance with relevant legislation, in terms of pollution emissions through overflows and its impact on water quality in the recipients.

IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR ME?

This course is for those who possess essential knowledge of urban hydrology and network hydraulics and basic skills in storm runoff and drainage network modelling by MIKE+,  and who want to extend their professional proficiency to modelling pollution transport and water quality in such systems.

WHAT ARE MY EXPECTED OUTCOMES?

Upon course completion, you will be able to extend your MIKE+ CS model with processes relevant for modelling impact of urban drainage pollution on the recipient. You will be able to set up the transport model, import MIKE ECO Lab template with wanted processes, run the simulations and review and understand the results.

HOW WILL I LEARN?

Each module includes videos and handouts that you need for model examples and quizzes. It will take you around four hours to complete the course at a time that fits your needs and requirements – and in the comfort of your own office, home or any location convenient for you.
